As a KEITH Manufacturing Co. Welder 1, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual or semiautomatic welding machines that weld together parts of fabricated metal products, as specified by layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts: welds cylindrical or irregular parts that may be clamped or otherwise positioned.  The ideal candidate will have a steady hand and keen attention to detail.

Shift:

5:00 am – 3:30 pm   Monday – Thursday    Overtime Required

Essential Functions

  • Layout, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints and or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements
  • Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies using welding equipment
  • Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using precision measuring instruments
  • Understand proper quality weld standards (including slag removal)
  • Responsible for checking completed parts to meet KEITH Quality Control standards
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities
  • Maintain a “customer first” mindset for productivity and quality
  • Maintain 6S in the work area
  • Meets agreed upon manufacturing goals on time
  • Arrive at work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled

Peripheral Duties

  • May position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in a jig or fixture
  • May operate other machinery in the area when necessary

Minimum Qualifications

  • Welding experience preferred
  • Have a solid understanding of welding equipment and accessories
  • Able to read and follow blueprints
  • Lean experience preferred
  • May be required to pass employer performance tests
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, precision measurement tools
  • Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently

Working Conditions

  • Works in Weld Shop
  • Daily exposure to continual noise from machines
  • Exposure to intense light and hot materials

Equipment/Machinery Used

  • Mig
  • Grinders

Physical Requirements

  • Able to sit or stand for 8 to 10 hours at a time
  • Able to lift 25 lbs.
