Tires
Operating the WALKING FLOOR System since 2000
Europe
This whole tire handling system has been in continuous operation since installation. The bin has proven its durability that is critical to the cement industry.
The installation of a whole tire handling system allows the customer to use an alternative low cost fuel source to fire the kiln at their Burglengenfeld plant. In this system, a front-end loader fills a WALKING FLOOR bin with whole passenger car and truck tires. The bin feeds the tires to a tire separator where they are fed one by one via conveyors to an accumulator, weigh bridge and through an air lock to the kiln.
Tires replace more expensive coal and natural gas energy sources. Whole tire storage and separating systems are uniquely suited to cement kilns and allow savings over other systems that handle shredded tires. Tire shredding systems require significant amounts of energy, maintenance and capital equipment costs.
In many cases, tire burning facilities will charge a disposal fee to the supplier of old tires. Add this income to the energy savings and project ROI's become very attractive.
